《四十年基層臨證得失錄》作者楊承岐是河北省石家莊地區的基層醫生，曾任職鄉鎮中心衛生院院長。作者十二歲學醫，十六歲懸壺鄉裡。雖然因小兒麻痺症奪去了左腿的健康，但為了診治患者，靠一根拐杖，一架破舊自行車的幫助，走遍了方圓百余裡大小村莊的千家萬戶。作者將其三十多年臨證得失傾囊寫出，毫無保留。所有的觀點和方法都源於臨床又驗之臨床，是他後半生攻病克難的」百寶囊」。《三十年基層臨證得失錄》既有理論探討，又有臨床研究:既有成功的經驗，又有失敗的教訓;既有中醫臨證發微，又有中藥功效新識，還有對針灸方法和穴位功效的新探討。
