作者二○○六年退休後，先在臺大文學院旁聽文史哲相關課程，開始學習古典詩詞創作。參加文山吟社、瀛社、天籟吟社等詩社，得詩友之切磋，受益良多；復有臺大法律系同窗之鼓舞激盪，雅興日高，吟懷日暢。詩文積稿漸多，編輯為《竹園詩文集》，包括「情志閒詠集」、「琴瑟和鳴集」、「學佛修道集」、「金沙玉屑集」四類，藉以佐證輿情，兼作追懷啟迪之資。
