清代經學大師皮錫瑞的代表作。皮氏嫻於漢、宋家法，故舉凡古、今宗派，以至清代諸家，皆能考其流別，辨其得失；由是條析眾說，斷以己意，廓清舊惑，總成新書。是書依《易》《書》《詩》《禮》《春秋》次序，分為五卷，首尾共三十章，各於章首標明論旨，其下征引論說，體例與閻若璩《尚書疏證》頗為相似；原為經學課本，故言簡意賅，明白曉暢，其於今日初治經者，是一極有價值之入門讀物。皮氏著述宏富，而此書以其精深簡達，卓然特立，與《經學歷史》並為雙璧，久為學林稱道，出版價值甚高，市場潛力尤可期待。
