《壇經校釋》自一九八三年出版以來，受到學界和讀者的充分關注，影響廣泛。 但由於當時條件限制，校釋者郭朋先生未能目睹敦煌出土的《壇經》寫本，只能以日本鈴木貞太郎和公田連太郎的校訂本為底本，因而在經文錄文、釋讀等方面出現一些問題。 借這次改型再版的機會，編者主要參考斯五四七五號《壇經》寫本對經文做了校勘，並酌情吸收了讀者的糾謬意見，對全書做了一定的修改。
