在上一本「城巴/新巴（2015年）資料集」出版後，隨著港鐵南港島線開通，及新巴開辦初期購置的巴士已達退役之期，故在港島路面上大部份都是巴士公司在這幾年購買的新巴士。而政府也放寬了巴士長度的限制，以致我們可以看到港島區的巴士路線出現12.8米的超長巴士。同時巴士製造商亦為港島的特殊路面而提供低矮車身的巴士。
