焦（hong）是明代後期著名的學者、思想家與文章家，江寧(今江蘇南京)人。他祖述陽明心學，反對程朱理學，反對思想僵化，以為學者應該獨立思考，持獨立見解，掃除古人陳腐舊說，開闢全新的思想境界，“闢取自己胸中一片乾坤\〃。他支持晚明著名反禮教、反傳統、具有戰斗精神的思想家李卓吾。焦(hong)學思想革新運動左派學者隊伍中一位杰出的學者，後起之秀。他著作等身，以博學多聞而著稱，在文字學、古音學、歷史學、文獻考據學等等實學研究領域中有顯著的成就，在明代學術史與思想史上有較高的地位。
