《針灸大成》是對明以前中國針灸學主要學術經驗的一次重要總結，資料豐富，編排合理，成為明以來三百年間流傳很廣的針灸學著作，對我國針灸學的發展起到了承前啟後的作用。書中提出了“十二字次第手法”與“下手八法”的針刺手法，至今仍為針灸醫家所慣用。此次整理，以中國科學院國家科學圖書館所藏的萬曆二十九年（1601）木刻本（卷七缺一部分）和天津中醫藥大學圖書館等處所藏的補刻本為底本點校而成。
