This is a really great book that I recommend every young person to read. The author is a young man from Taiwan. His dream was to become a real soldier. In a bid to pursue his dream, he joined the French Legion in the age of 19. He didn't know much French language. He also didn't know much about the Legion before he joined. But he overcame everything and completed a full tenure. The book composes of different episodes of his training and experience. Albeit a book about being a solider, the author is in fact a sentimental person. In between his training, there was romance with a Japanese girl whom he briefly met at a French course. He depicted the romance and his story in a delicate way. The book is inspiring in the sense of pursuing your dream and overcoming challenges. The training he had was intimidating and inhumane. The deployment was dangerous and life-threatening. With faith, he completed them safely. This young man has my respect and it is a book I highly recommend to young people.
